ART: Gaia, a D.C.-based group of musicians, singers, dancers and DJs, bring soul, organic electronica, earthy grooves, dance, visuals and magic to the Corcoran: Midsummer Night event tonight (500 17th Street NW). A bar and light refreshments will also be available to pair with this night of performance. 7-11 p.m. $30 members, $40 non-members.
MOVIE: If you missed the Capitol Riverfront outdoor screening of E.T. last night, head to Cinema in the Circle tonight at Dupont Circle Park and the Fountain. 9:15 p.m. Free.

MUSIC: David Bazan, the former lead of Pedro the Lion, comes to The Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) tonight with S. Carey. 9 p.m. $15.
>> It’s Reggae Night with Lenny Kurlow, Passion Reggae Band and Carl Malcolm & Positive Vibrations at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre (16th Street and Colorado Avenue NW) this evening. This event is part of the Washington Post’s Going Out Guide Weekend Concerts, and is free, but requires tickets. You can acquire them at The Washington Post (1150 15th Street NW) or the Carter Barron box office (16th Street and Colorado Avenue NW), but they may sell out. 7:30 p.m. Free.
SATURDAY:
FESTIVAL: Come out for the costumes, music and food of the D.C. Caribbean Carnival. At 11 a.m., a Mardi Gras style parade will make its way down Georgia Avenue NW and ending up at Barry Place NW for the rest of the festival. $10, free for seniors and kids under 12. 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
MUSIC: We’re not sure what will be more entertaining Saturday night at the 9:30 Club (810 V Street NW): Dinosaur Jr.’s set or Henry Rollins interviewing them live on stage after the show. Punkers OFF! open. 8 p.m. $30.
>> Del Ray Music Festival (2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria) will feature twelve hours of local rock, pop, jazz, blues, celtic, folk and alt-country music. There will also be food from Evening Star Cafe, Pork Barrel BBQ and Taqueria Poblano, and activities for kids. 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Free.
>> The 25 red megaphones of the megaphone project create a unique sound on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (2700 F Street NW). 6 p.m. Free.
>> Vernon Reid, formerly of Living Colour, mixes a performance on guitar with visual art this Sunday at Artificial Afrika at the National Portrait Gallery (8th and F Streets NW). This will be followed by a question and answer session. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free.

SCAVENGER HUNT: Fro-yo shop Mr. Yogato (1515 17th Street NW) is celebrating its 3rd birthday by throwing a scavenger hunt this Saturday. The two-hour event will conclude at 9:30 p.m. with fabulous prizes, birthday celebrations and complimentary snacks. Registration for the hunt is at 6:30 p.m., and the race begins at 7 p.m. Free.
FOOD & DRINK: The annual Safeway BBQ Battle (Pennsylvania Avenue betweent 9th and 14th) pits teams and restaurants against each other in a delicious clash of grills. There will also be a ton of live rock, blues and R&B. Saturday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 kids, or $18 for both days.
>> Make the trek out to Leesburg (Morven Park, 41793 Tutt Lane, Leesburg, VA) Saturday for the Northern Virginia Summer Brewfest, where you can sample beer from over 50 breweries and pair them with food at the event. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. $30 adults, $20 designated drivers, children free.
HAPPY HOUR: Don your Ray Bans, bikinis and SPF 15, the ‘Unknown Pleasures’ Rooftop Happy Hour Pool Party comes to the Donovan House (1155 14th Street NW) Saturday. 5-9 p.m. Free.
COMEDY: Comedians Hampton Yount and Will Hessler bring “There Will Be Laughter 4“, their sketch and stand-up show, to the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington). 9:45 p.m. $15.
MOVIE: Learn about D.C.’s AIDS epidemic at a free outdoor screening of The Other City at Harriet Tubman Elementary School Field (3101 13th Street NW). There will be free HIV testing and music before the documentary. 8 p.m. Free.
SPORTS: D.C. United take on Houston at RFK Stadium, and it’s College Night, which means $15 tickets for those with college ID. 6 p.m. Tickets for everyone else: $28.30-59.65.

FUN: Water balloon fight! While there’ll be summer foods (like burgers, crab cakes, and seafood), a steel drum band and face painting at the Georgetown Waterfront Summer Celebration at Washington Harbor (3000 K Street NW), we’re fixated on the water balloon battle portion of the afternoon. It could be epic. 12-3 p.m.
MOVIE: Shiver through four ghost stories in Kwaidan, directed by Masaki Kobayashi, part of the Look Again: Japanese Cinema Classics series playing in the Freer Gallery’s Meyer Auditorium (Jefferson Drive at 12th Street SW). 2 p.m. Free.
MUSIC: Catch Ben Sollee on cello at Iota (2832 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) this Sunday (he’ll also be performing Saturday). Thousands, who hail from Seattle, also perform. 8 p.m. $15.
>> Earth, Wind & Fire, out on their 40th Anniversary World Tour, take the stage at Wolf Trap (1645 Trap Road, Vienna, VA). 8 p.m. $30 lawn, $45 in-house.
