>> Get out your go-go boots and brush up on your hustle, as Soul Train memorabilia makes it way to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. In celebration, take a walk — or dance down the line — to a panel discussion exploring Soul Train‘s cultural impact with Kenard Gibbs (CEO, Soul Train Holdings), Tony Cornelius (son of Soul Train founder Don Cornelius), Tyrone Proctor (original Soul Train dancer), Nicholas “NickFRESH” Poluzo (DJ, producer, founder, SoulTrainFans), and Questlove (DJ, producer, drummer for The Roots). The evening ends with a dance lesson and Soul Train dance party. Thursday at the Motor City tent on the Mall at 15th and Constitution from 6 to 9 p.m.

>> As part of the celebration marking the end of streetscape construction, H Street NE businesses will participate in ARTventures walk on Thursday evening. Participants will be given an ARTventures “passport” to be punched at each stop on the art walk. For every punch received, attendees receive an extra 2 percent discount during the Dine Around. Art walk will take place 5:30 to 8 p.m., and the Dine Around from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

>> On Tuesday at the Torpedo Factory, sculptor Rebecca Lasky will discuss how she came to invent a sculptural material she calls “Goo”. Lasky will sculpt “Goo” in a live demonstration while talking about her development as an artist and the factors of her material innovation. Morrison House, 6 to 8 p.m.

>> The Places We Have Known explores how we experience locations, and the capacity of photography to represent these experiences. The artists featured in this exhibition test the limits of the photographic medium, employing it non-traditionally in order to visually represent the complex ways that we perceive locations.
