Good morning, Washington. Everyone appears to the spending the morning talking about the Casey Anthony verdict. Of course, all that attention is likely leading locals to overlook the fact that there’s a child murder case happening much closer to Washington: a Prince William County woman has been indicted for murder after leaving her 2-year-old son inside a minivan for several hours on June 17 — allegedly not the first time she left the child, Ryan Murphy, inside the car. Ryan’s mother, Karen Murphy, is expected to turn herself in today.

Second Man Charged In Georgia Avenue Shooting: Yesterday, D.C. police arrested 20-year-old Deonte J. Bryant, the second person to be arrested in connection with the murder of Robert Foster, Jr. on June 25. Foster was one of four people who were shot during an altercation between two rival crews at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Street. Bryant, a District resident, was charged with second-degree murder; Terry Jiminez was arrested and also charged with murder for the shooting on June 26.

Massive Power Outage On 8th Street NW: About 400 Washingtonians were without power last night, when an underground Pepco feeder line caught fire near the intersection of 8th and E Streets NW. The nearby Lansburgh apartment building was hit hardest, and 8th Street was closed for some time while D.C. Fire and EMS and Pepco worked on the lines.

Lockout Schmockout: Labor relations be damned! The Washington R******* are planning on opening training camp at the end of the month, as planned. If it happens, it’ll actually be the first time the team’s players and coaches will talk to each other since April.

Briefly Noted: Roger Clemens steroid trial starts in D.C. today…Foggy Bottom escalators still out…FEMS investigates chemical spill inside apartment building on 38th Street NW…Kwame Brown campaign finance issues comes before Board of Elections and Ethics tomorrow morning…Man shot on 800 block of Barnaby Street SE…Peaceaholics on its last leg…Suspicious package found on 14th Street between F and G Streets cleared…What do you think about D.C.’s unofficial typographic logo?…I don’t know, personally I would have gone with “Nats G.M. Says Dripping, Sweaty Wang “Looks Great,” Awaits Rejuvenation“.

This Day in DCist: In 2010, we had blanket coverage of the more-political-than-usual Palisades Parade, and Vince Gray talked with local bloggers.
