Mayor Vince Gray, who has been historically prickly regarding requests for comment on the Harry Thomas, Jr. scandal, unsurprisingly refused to call for Thomas to step down today. In an interview with the Washington Post, Gray said that he would “let justice run its course.”

“I was the one who told [D.C. Attorney General] Irv [Nathan] to move full speed ahead with the investigation,” Gray also told reporter Nikita Stewart.

So far, three Councilmembers — David Catania, Mary Cheh and Tommy Wells — have called for Thomas to step down. Others have condemned his actions without expliciting calling for resignation, while some, like Yvette Alexander and Michael A. Brown, have also refused to call for Thomas to quit. Gray, meanwhile, appears to be taking the Kwame Brown approach: standing firmly on the fence.
