The fine people at Zagat officially released their 2012 Washington, DC/Baltimore Restaurants Survey today. This year’s top restaurants? Marcel’s, Inn at Little Washington, Komi, CityZen, Rasika, Makoto, Eve, Citronelle, and Palena. Wow, nothing’s changed in the span of a year, has it?

Of course, there’s an explanation for that, and it’s not because no other good joints have opened up in the last twelve months. It’s because established restaurants only get re-reviewed by Zagat every couple years, so the chances of such great restaurants slipping to make room for new names is non-existent.

Just further proof that, as Tim Carman wrote two years ago, “we do not live in a Zagat World anymore.” Blame the Internet, I guess.
