If you experienced a beefed-up police presence on your way past the Convention Center this morning, don’t fret — it’s just for President Barack Obama.

It’s on the President’s official schedule — and according to Politico, the President will be making an appearance at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center this morning to officially unveil an effort to improve fuel efficiency for cars and trucks. Obama isn’t expected to address the ongoing debt talks during the announcement at the Convention Center.

The event will mark Obama’s second appearance at the Convention Center on this day in the last two years — last year, he delivered a speech on educational reform as part of the National Urban League 100th Anniversary Convention as protesters jammed 9th Street NW.
