By now, everyone in D.C. should know how to make a rickey, our native cocktail, but yesterday the D.C. Craft Bartenders Guild announced the city’s top six finalists in this year’s 2011 Rickey Month Competition.
– Riquitita, Alexandra Nichols (Estadio)
– Rapture of the Rickey, Gina Chersevani (PS7’s)
– Plum Rickey, Jason Strich (Rasika)
– August Rickey, Chantal Tseng (Tabard Inn)
– Rhubarbra Streisand, Julia Hurst (The Passenger)
– Summer Lovin’ Rickey, David Fritzler (Tryst)
The six are set to showcase their rickeys for the judges and public tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at Jack Rose. Admission is $10 and includes a free rickey or free admission with a quintet of hole punches on your rickey passport. Meaning, you have a lot of rickey tasting to do between tonight and tomorrow. At the least the citrus is healthy.
