Gods’illa

Tuesday:
>> New York soul singer Gloria Ry’ann has garnered a good amount of attention for her dynamic vocal range, which will be on full display as a part of Ben’s Next Door‘s “Live” series. Free. 9 p.m.

Wednesday:
>> Bomani Armah has been a notable presence on the D.C. hip-hop/poetry scene for a while now, to the point he’s the host of the “National Watermelon Day” block party. Showcasing talents like Immaletchufinish, Femi the Drifish and Night, this celebration of summer time’s official fruit goes down at BloomBars. $10 suggested donation. 8:30 p.m.

>> “The Go-Round” celebrates the art of deejaying by having some of the area’s best showcase their talents. Slated to perform at the U Street Music Hall are Supa Qool Quartermaine, Roddy Rod, 2-Tone Jones, Cuzzin B, DJ Face, Lance Reynolds, DJ Alizay and DJ Bee. Free. 9 p.m.

Thursday:
>> Clinton, Md. native Tank has managed to stay slightly below the big-time R&B radar, moreso than a number of his contemporaries. Regardless, he’s a four-time Grammy nominee, with his latest awarded earlier this year for “Take My Time” with Chris Brown. He’ll be at the Birchmere. $39.50. 7:30 p.m.

Friday:
>> Hailing from Detroit, Dwele gained notoriety for his work with Slum Village and Kanye West. Mixing R&B subject matter with jazz vocals and hip-hop beats is what he’s adept at — and those talents will be on display at Love. Free. 7 p.m.

>> Everyone’s favorite indie soul singer (and frequent D.C. performer) Eric Roberson will be the featured performer at this week’s edition of “Unplugged” at The Park, as he prepares for the release of his next album, Mr. Nice Guy? in the next few weeks. Free. 8 p.m.

>> Timmy Regisford is a legendary dance music DJ, remixer and A&R guy. For almost 30 years, he’s been moving crowds at clubs and on the radio in New York. He’ll be spinning as a part of “Red Fridays” at U Street Music Hall. Joining him will be local dance music aficionado Chris Burns. Free before 11 p.m. / $10 after 11 p.m. 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> The celebration of music from Africa and its Diaspora takes place again at Eighteenth Street Lounge as the Sol Power All-Stars (Meistro, Deep Sang and DJ Stylus) spin Latin, Brazilian and African tunes for dancing purposes. $TBA. 9:30 p.m.

>> “Soul Fiesta Global” celebrates house, Latin, Afrobeat and “discofied” funk musics with the help of great deejays. Although “Fiesta” has been a frequent Baltimore occurrence, this is the first time it’s happening in D.C. On the decks at the Warehouse Loft (411 New York Avenue NE) will be Sam Burns, DJ Underdog, Jay Rags and DJ i:Wah. $10. 10 p.m.

Sunday:
>> The buzz is that Gods’illa might be the next big thing to come out of the DMV’s hip-hop scene. It certainly helps when they’re racking up important co-signs, namely Erykah Badu and 9th Wonder. The brotherly trio are celebrating the release of their CPR—The Blend Tape project at U Street Music Hall, where they’ll be joined by the aforementioned Grammy Award-winning producer 9th Wonder, Diamond District, DTMD, Farafina Kan, DJ Roddy Rod, 2-Tone Jones and DJ RBI. $15 in advance. 7 p.m.

>> While Jill Scott has been in the public eye more as an actress as of late, she’s still a darn good singer and looking to remind folks of that during her “Summer Block Party” tour, which rolls through the Verizon Center for the evening. Scheduled to join her are Anthony Hamilton, Mint Condition, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Doug E. Fresh. $69.75-$109.75. 7 p.m.
