WMATA announced this afternoon that Metro Transit Police arrested three individuals — two current Metro employees, and one former employee (UPDATE: and one more!) — on theft charges. Metro employees Empress Jacobs, 28, and Keesha Richardson, 32, and their former supervisor Alfred Atanga, 50, are alleged to have stolen an estimated $25,000 from the transit agency by claiming pay for hours that were not worked. According to WMATA, Atanga allegedly arranged for Jacobs and Richardson to be compensated for work at Metro’s information call center they didn’t perform.
Both Jacobs and Richardson have been placed on administrative leave until an internal investigation can be completed.
