Photo by abe.o.Good morning, Washington. Tonight is the final night of Fort Reno for the season, and we can think of no better way to prepare than by enjoying this wonderful oral history of the concert series, as told to Ryan Little. It’s chock full of wonderful stories, including an outstanding anecdote in which the Metropolitan Police told former Fort Reno booker Carleton Ingram to not schedule any more ska bands, lest it raise the ire of the kids. (I always knew ska was a threat to the public good!) Be sure not to miss the priceless video collection of notable performances from Fort Renos gone by at the end of the page.
Wone Suit Settled: A civil suit filed by the widow of Robert Wone against Joseph Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward was settled yesterday after Katherine Wone admitted that there was no additional information about the death to be gleaned from the suit. Financial details were not disclosed; the suit had been seeking $20 million in damages. (Considerations from the settlement will be funneled into a memorial trust for “providing college scholarships and free legal services to those in need.”) Price, Zaborsky and Ward, who repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment during proceedings, were acquitted on tampering and obstruction charges last year — no one has yet been charged for murder in connection to Wone’s death.
Just Blame Tommy: What to do when something goes wrong on the D.C. Council? Just blame it all on Tommy Wells! That’s the strategy used by Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh, who says that this whole budget pocket veto thing that’s got everyone up in arms is all Wells’ fault, because he engaged in “shocking behavior” when he angled with At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange on the dais to permanently install the tax on municipal bonds which is at the basis of the issue. Loose Lips reports that Cheh certainly bears some of the blame, though, playing a game of political chicken with an income tax measure which likely could have passed, replacing the bond tax. “I don’t know who I can rely on,” says Cheh. (Uh, welcome to the club.)

This Day in DCist: In 2010, we explained how you, dear reader, could become an ANC commissioner, while a Colorado politician opined that bikesharing programs were some kind of conspiracy and D.C. United got a new coach.
