MOVIES: The Bicycle Film Festival threw a kickoff party yesterday, but the real fun begins tonight. In the Gala Theatre (3333 14th Street NW) at 7 p.m. see Program 1, a selection of 11 short films, including Bike Race (a 12-minute animation), Le Tour de Kagawa (about bicycling foodies in Japan), and Racing Towards Red Hook (featuring 3 cyclists in the 2011 Red Hook Criterium). At 9 p.m., catch Program 2, 7 short films including Urdamonia: The Urban Good Life (on the beauty of cycling in the city), Details of Part (how-its-made of bikes), and With My Own Two Wheels (a documentary on how bicycles can change the world). Also at 9 p.m., the after party begins at Wonderland Ballroom (1101 Kenyon Street NW). $10 each program or $30 for the whole festival.

>> SNL’s Andy Samberg stars in Hot Rod, which may not have done great in the box office, but did win two awards — Hardest Hit and Best Fire Stunt — at the 2008 World Stunt Awards. See it tonight at the Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival (Gateway Park at the base of Key Bridge, 1300 Lee Highway, Arlington). Dusk. Free.

>> The Made in Hong Kong Film Festival continues at the Freer Gallery of Art (Jefferson Drive at 12th Street SW) tonight with La Comedie Humaine, a buddy comedy that’s perhaps the lightest film of all the festival’s selections. 7 p.m. Free.

TALK: Andrew Beaujon, arts editor for TBD and author of Body Piercing Saved My Life: Inside the Phenomenon of Christian Rock, joins comedian Adam Friedland, musicians Meredith Bragg, Ian Walters, and Nathan Jurgenson, and host Brandon Wetherbee for the next You, Me, Them, Everybody Live! talk show at Wonderland Ballroom (1101 Kenyon Street NW). 8 p.m. Free.

ART: The 5th Annual East of the River Exhibition featuring local artists from Wards 7 and 8 opens tonight in Historic Anacostia at the Honfleur Gallery (1241 Good Hope Road SE) with an opening reception. 7-9 p.m. Free.

MUSIC: The Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE) presents Drop Electric, Constant Alarm, and Oh So Peligroso. 9:30 p.m. $10.

BIKES: The Bicycle Film Festival continues today with a Fixt Trix Jam at Bridge Spot Skatepark (2nd and Virginia Avenue SE) from 1:30-4:30 p.m., followed by three more sets of film programs at the Gala Theatre (3333 14th Street NW) at 5, 7 and 9 p.m., and an after party at DC9 (1940 9th Street NW). $10 each film program, or $30 for the whole festival.

DANCE: Learn to move those hips at a Belly Dance class from Past Tense yoga, featuring moves from North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. 4-6 p.m. $30.

MOVIES: Get spacey this weekend with morning screenings of Flight of the Navigator (Saturday, 11 a.m.) and The Last Starfighter (Sunday, 11 a.m.) at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring), part of their Totally Awesome 5: Great Films of the 80s series. $11 each.

BIRTHDAY: Make the drive to Baltimore for a whale of a time at the National Aquarium’s (501 E. Pratt Street Baltimore) 30th birthday bash, a weekend-long celebration on the pier featuring Mexican folk dancing (12 p.m.), a Polynesian Floor & Fire Dance Show (1 p.m.), crafts and games (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and more.
