MUSIC: The B-52s monkey around at Rock-n-Roar at the National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Avenue NW) tonight. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show is from 7 to 9 p.m. $65.

>> Kurt Vile recently released his album Smoke Ring For My Halo to much acclaim. He plays tonight with his band, The Violators, at the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE). WOODS, White Fence, and True Widow also take the stage. Doors 6 p.m., show 7 p.m. $18.

FOOD & DRINK: Room 11 (3234 11th Street NW) is celebrating it’s second anniversary tonight with free Jamaican Punch from 5 to 7 p.m., and free punch with purchase after that. Dan Searing will also be signing copies of his book The Punch Bowl.

MOVIE: We said last week was NoMa Summer Screen’s (2nd and L Streets NE) final outdoor movie night of the summer. We lied — tonight is actually the final night. A rescheduled (due to rain) showing of O Brother, Where Art Thou goes on tonight. Make it dinner and a movie by grabbing some food from the Smokin’ Somethin’ BBQ or The Big Cheese trucks, which will be parked nearby. Food and music at 7 p.m., movie at 9 p.m. Free.

>> Cuba Gooding Jr. stars in Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, the final movie in the NIH’s Science in the Cinema series at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring). The film will be followed by a discussion on neurosurgery with Dr. Russell R. Lonser. 7 p.m. Free.

THEATER: After reading our review and learning two elves are on the cast, you may now want to check out the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Uncle Vanya at the Kennedy Center (2700 F Street NW) tonight and through August 27th. 7:30 p.m. $59-$135.

READING: Learn why Beijing is the capital of the future at Politics and Prose (5015 Connecticut Avenue NW), where author and Deadspin blogger Tom Scocca will read from his book Bejing Welcomes You, about his trip to China in 2004 when the city and country were preparing for the Olympics. 7 p.m. Free.
