Photo by frank.thorp.Rex Grossman, recently named the starting quarterback for the Washington R*******, is very excited about the team’s prospects this season. Very excited.
“We’re fine being the sleepers right now,” Grossman said Tuesday in an interview with Comcast SportsNet. “You know, we’re just waiting in the wings, ready to take over the NFC East.
“Nobody’s talking about us. That’s right where we want to be. You look at us from top to bottom out here, there’s a bunch of great players. And we don’t need people saying we’re the best right now, but when it’s all said and done, I really feel like this team’s gonna win the East.”
Hey, it’s always good to have confidence. Then again, this isn’t the first time that Grossman has felt like a team he was about to helm was ready to break out.
“I’m as focused as I’ve ever been,” Grossman said before beginning the 2007 season as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. “I’m excited about it. We’ve got a great team, a great supporting cast and great coaches. I feel like this is where I want to be in my career, and I’m excited about what we’re going to be able to do.”
The team finished 7-9 that year, good for last in their division.
