WMATA may be enforcing restrictions on some SmarTrip functions this weekend, but at least its maintenance-related delays is taking a short break between major Red Line closures. Unlike last weekend — and next weekend, when the Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will be closed for the entire weekend — this weekend’s work will affect a few isolated areas of the system, and no stations will be closed.

This weekend’s work will begin around 10 p.m. this evening and last through closing on Sunday, and WMATA suggests adding in 20 additional minutes of travel time if traveling through the affected areas, listed below:

>> Red Line: between Grosvenor and Twinbrook
>> Red Line: between Takoma and Forest Glen
>> Blue/Orange Line: between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory
>> Orange Line: between Vienna and West Falls Church
>> Yellow Line: between Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza

In addition, no Yellow Line trains will operate beyond the Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center station during the weekend.
