BEER: There are a ton of events going on during this year’s D.C. Beer Week, which kicked off yesterday. Tonight, enjoy a five-course Brewer’s Art Dinner at Meridian Pint (3400 11th Street NW) from 7-10 p.m. at $50 (includes tax and tip), a Founders Beer Dinner at Birch & Barley (1337 14th Street NW) starting at 7 p.m. for $75 (plus tax and tip), or these other options.
Tonight, the Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) continues its “Tall Tales” cocktail class series with The Cocktails of New Orleans. Learn about, and then enjoy, drinks like the Sazerac, Vieux Carre and Ramos Gin Fizz. 8 p.m. $25 includes admission and 3 drinks.
MOVIES: Catch the fourth and final Screen on the Green (National Mall between 12th and 14th Streets NW) movie of the summer, Cool Hand Luke. Dusk. Free.

TUESDAY: Star and Shamrock (1341 H Street NE) and Shmaltz Brewery join forces for “DC Beer Week’s only Jewish-Irish hotdog eating contest.” Three preliminary contest heats will take place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 9 p.m., and the finals will take place on Saturday, August 20th at 7 p.m. The winner will receive round trip transportation to Coney Island and a tour of the Shmaltz Brewing Company brewery. $5.
WEDNESDAY: Moonshine Cabaret, featuring The Slomski Brothers vaudeville act, Marla Meringue performing burlesque, live music from The Judy Chops and more, comes to the Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) Wednesday. Doors 8 p.m., show 9 p.m. $10.
THURSDAY: Step Afrika! dances at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Phillips After 5 this Thursday. There will also be live jazz music from Project Natale (5-8:15 p.m.), rum punch, and a talk on artist Jacob Lawrence’s painting process (6 and 7 p.m.). The whole event takes place at the Phillips Collection (1600 21st Street NW) from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $12.
FRIDAY: It’s an action packed weekend at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring), which will be showing Die Hard (Friday 9:45 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 p.m.) and Lethal Weapon (Saturday 10:10 p.m.) as a part of their Totally Awesome: Great Films of the 80s series. $11 each.
SATURDAY: The all-you-can-eat Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival brings 40,000 crabs to National Harbor this Saturday. Session I is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Session II is 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Tickets: VIP crab & beer tickets are $85 in advance and $100 day-of, beer-only tickets are $35 in advance and $50 day-of, and crab-only tickets are $55 in advance and $70 day-of.
