Last December, I took some umbrage to a story in the New York Times about the Washington Examiner’s crime-fighting ability. It seems, I wrote then, “a little far-fetched to state, unequivocally, that hardened criminals on the run can outmaneuver U.S. Marshals, but not a daily newspaper which normally serves as a second layer of carpeting on Metro trains.”

Well, considering Examiner crime reporter Scott McCabe’s morning — see above — I hereby offer my heartfelt apologies for leaping to such hasty conclusions. Obviously, the vigiliance at 1015 15th Street NW is beyond reproach.
