MUSIC: Grab your ukulele and help set a new Guinness world record for the “Largest Ukulele Ensemble” at Strathmore’s (5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda) UkeFest 2011. Following the record-breaking attempt, stay for a concert featuring Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, Gerald Ross, The Sweater Set, The Washington Ukulele Orchestra, and more. Pre-show strum at 6-7 p.m.; uke player registration for world record attempt at 7 p.m., followed by the attempt at 7:30 p.m. Free.

Gina Paige, co-founder and president of AfricanAncestry.com, will be the guest speaker for the evening and the menu will include family reunion favorites, like honey corn bread, biscuits with butter and preserves, deep fried catfish, southern fried chicken, braised collard greens and more. 6:30-9:30 p.m. $45 (plus tax and tip).

BURLESQUE: The Gin Bath Beauties bring burlesque with a vintage speakeasy feel to the Red Palace (1212 H Street NE) tonight. Doors 8:30 p.m., show 9 p.m. $10.
