Were you thinking about taking a quick trip to the beach this weekend? Uh, you’ll probably want to put a hold on those plans — Ocean City, Maryland is officially asking people “to postpone their visits until the existing situation improves.”

According to the current forecast, it’s likely that regional beaches will experience “moderate to major coastal flooding, beach erosion, [and] dangerous surf” this weekend, all thanks to Hurricane Irene.

Our suggestion? Just hang out, pop that Beach Boys record on the hi-fi and watch all the pretty colors on the radar maps go by instead.
