Electro-pop outfit Digitalism has evolved over the last seven years from a techno-heavy prog-dance group to one with a synth-saturated sound. At either end of the spectrum, they’re a rave and festival mainstay.
Despite having built a loyal fanbase with hits like “Zdarlight” and “Idealistic”, only the strong survived until their 9:30 Club set last Friday began at nearly 1 a.m., with a small but enthusiastic crowd of less than 200. Maybe local electro enthusiasts were worn out by by the previous days’ Identity Festival, which drew over 12,000 attendees, but with such a small showing, there was nowhere to hide if you were a passing tourist. Luckily, those present were into all of Digitalism’s offerings, from their best known songs to newer standout tracks like “2 Hearts”.
