Strasburg watchers, take note! Teddy’s Team Blog cites “a source close to the Nationals” who pegs the return date of Stephen Strasburg to the Nationals Park mound on September 6.

The blog’s math:

Strasburg will pitch tomorrow night, the 17th, for the Hagerstown Suns. The Nationals want to keep him on a regular 5-day schedule, so he would then likely pitch for the Suns again on the 22nd. August 27th would be a start for the AAA Syracuse Chiefs, and then Strasburg’s final tuneup would be on September 1st, pitching for the Harrisburg Senators. Nationals brass have been careful to make sure he pitches in a “controlled” environment (read: home ballparks) during his minor league rehab starts.

The Nats have also curbed season ticket holders’ ability to redeem free reward tickets on September 6, 11 and 16, home games against the Dodgers, Astros and Marlins which the club would conceivably like to sell tickets for on the back of yet another Strasmas.

The Nats haven’t officially confirmed anything about Strasburg’s big league return yet, but you might want to go ahead and grab tickets for that September 6 game — especially if you missed out the first time the kid took the mound last year.
