Shortly after today’s mayoral press conference at the Wilson Building, local reporters were treated to quite the scene — Councilmember Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) making an illegal turn on Pennsylvania Avenue in a car whose rear bumper was hanging on by what seemed like a single screw.

The car, a Jaguar with three outstanding tickets, was apparently hit a few weeks back by a stolen car making a quick getaway in Ward 8. According to the Post’s Nikita Stewart, Barry had this to say about the car: “When you live in the ghetto, all this happens.”
