If you’re like me, the final days of summer bring to mind those memories of a new school year: the new locker, trying to find your classes, and maybe even getting to sit next to your crush. As we get older, those thoughts change to increased heating bills, figuring out where Thanksgiving is going to be, and whether to take the AC out of the window yet. Well, for us thirsty adults, it also marks the start up of a new school year—but a delicious and fun one. This is a class where you won’t mind the hard work involved and even enjoy the homework.

Starting today, Bourbon in Glover Park will begin featuring a series of educational beer tastings led by resident beer expert Rachel Murray. Murray is well known throughout the bar scene and cut her teeth helping to develop a beer education program at Brickskeller before becoming Bourbon GP’s beer goddess.

For six consecutive weeks, two classes will be held every Monday night; The first session runs from 6-7 p.m., and the second session from 8-9 p.m. Each class costs $25 (including tax and gratuity), which includes 5 ounce pours of six different beers based on the theme of each class. Space in each class is limited. Tickets may be purchased online at Bourbon’s web site.

Sept. 12 – Fermentation & Yeast
Sept. 19 – Malts
Sept. 26 – Hops
Oct. 3 – The American Craft Beer Revolution
Oct. 10 -The Origin of German Beer Styles
Oct. 17 -The Origin of Belgian Beer Styles

This is a great way to get familiar with new beer styles in an unpretentious environment, get an education in some beer history, and hear from one of the most educated beer gurus in the city.
