Two weeks ago Mayor Vince Gray stopped by the set of Covert Affairs as the USA series filmed in the District. (He even got a hearty laugh out of star Piper Perabo.)
Tomorrow, he’ll be stopping by the set of NBC’s The Firm, a new series based on the John Grisham bestseller of the same name. (The series, set to air in 2012, apparently takes place 10 years after the events in the book.) According to a release from the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development, Gray will meet with the cast and producers and try to get them to film more of the series in the city.
As a means to attract more revenue for the District, Gray has approached a number of studios and production houses about filming in the city. In July, he used a trip to the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Los Angeles as an excuse to meet with some Hollywood big-wigs; there’s apparently a number of possible shows, films and even a certain game show interested in working in the District.
This is all good news, provided we don’t have a repeat of the whole Bumblebee episode.
