>> The art buzz this weekend is the opening of the (e)merge art fair. The fair will present over 80 exhibitors, performances and educational panels. The roster includes a heavy dose of local galleries and artists as well as international. The fair kicks off Thursday evening with an opening preview party from 7 to 11 p.m. Then the fair will be open Friday through Sunday to visitors. Capitol Skyline Hotel. Tickets: $15.

>> Going the more DIY route, But is it Art? presents an alternative to the larger art fair, showcasing local emerging artists and panel discussions. Opening Thursday evening from 7 to 11 p.m., and runs through Sunday at Wonderbox.

>> Suffer from insomnia? Let Art All Night: Nuit Blanche DC keep you occupied during your sleepless hours. This all night festival will feature art in private and public space, street performances and live music and DJs from Chinatown to the Shaw neighborhood. Saturday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

>> Another temporary art exhibit will take place this weekend along the Shaw Main Street Corridor. Submerge will feature local visual, music, comedy and culinary arts and artists. Opening Thursday from 7 p.m to 2 a.m. at 1005 7th st NW. Runs through Sunday.

>> Andy Warhol makes his presence known this week with the Hirshhorn and the National Gallery of Art opening Warhol exhibits for Warhol on the Mall. At the Hirshhorn, see Warhol’s 102 silkscreened and hand-painted canvases of shadows from his studio, installed end to end in Andy Warhol: Shadows. Then, at the National Gallery of Art, see Warhol’s interpretation of the newspaper headlines in Warhol: Headlines. Both opening Sunday.

>> Data/Fields, a new media exhibit exploring the connection between the viewer and the flow and transfer of data, opens at the Artisphere. This group exhibit of international artists offers sites of signal, noise, presence and absence. Opening with a reception on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m.

>> CHINA Town: Contemporary Ceramic Painting from Jingdezhen featuring 56 works of Chinese porcelain paintings showing how modern Chinese artists are building upon historic traditions to create vibrant contemporary expressions, opens Thursday at the Meridian International Center. Opening reception from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

>> Heiner Contemporary opens Prequel to the Sequel: Waiting for a Hollywood Ending, a solo exhibition by David Kramer. The exhibition includes 16 works on paper, three canvases and a large installation reminiscent of a vintage 1970s modernist suburban living room, but built using cheap and remaindered building supplies. Opening party and performance will take place Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

>> Marcātus, ArtWhino’s arts market, is back this Saturday for a SW ArtsFest Edition. Browse several art and craft vendors. Enjoy music and food. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
