FOOD & DRINK: The National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Avenue NW) presents its annual Grapes With the Apes wine-tasting event tonight. Atteendees will also gain after hours access to the Great Ape House, be entertained by live music, and will be helping to support the National Zoo. 6-9 p.m. $55.

BOOK: 2Birds1Blog has gone from the interwebs to the printed page. Help them celebrate at the release party of their book, The Misanthrope’s Guide to Life, tonight at The Big Hunt (1345 Connecticut Avenue NW). Comedian Tim Miller will emcee, the blog/book authors Meghan Rowland and Chris Turner-Neal will be on hand, and there will be drink specials. 7:30-11:30 p.m. Free.

FUNDRAISER: The Perry Center, a nonprofit that offers youth services in D.C., is holding an Octoberfest party and fundraiser, sponosored by OnTap Magazine, at Biergarten Haus (1355 H Street NE) tonight. There will be St. Pauli Girl beer specials, German food, and competitions, including Best Beer Pour, Best Beer Tray Carry, and Best German Accent. 8-11 p.m.

ART: Catch the poolside Opening Preview Party of the (e)merge art fair tonight at the Capitol Skyline Hotel (10 I Street SW), with musical guests LouLou and the Dispappointer Sisters (featuring members of Thievery Corporation, Fugazi, French Toast and The Deadmen). 7-11 p.m. $25 in advance, $30 door.

MUSIC: We were blown away by Glasser at SXSW this year, and definitely recommend checking her out at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) tonight. She’s opening for Elbow. 7 p.m. $35.
