Happy National Coffee Day!

Okay, in the grand scheme of totally made-up unimportant commercial marketing days, this one might take the (coffee) cake. (National Tequila Day is July 24, in case you were wondering, and National Dessert Month is in October.) As if anyone around these parts needs to drink more coffee anyhow.

But if you’re feeling inclined to celebrate, 7-Eleven is giving away free medium cups of coffee until 11 a.m., while Krispy Kreme is handing out 12-ounce cups of its own blend throughout the day. Starbucks is sitting this one out, and Dunkin’ Donuts has only knocked their medium cups down to 50 cents. As for any of the good coffee shops out there, well, they’ll likely look at you like you’re crazy. And after all of those extra cups of celebratory coffee, you just might be.
