>> A framed certificate hanging on a wall in the Georgetown home of Albrecht Muth, who is charged with second-degree murder in the August death of his wife, Georgetown socialite Viola Drath, announces Muth’s appointment as a brigadier general in the Iraqi army. But a receipt found in Muth’s home reveals that he ordered the certificate from a Maryland print shop back in April.
>> Leslie Charles Waffen, 66, a former head of the National Archives department that kept the Zapruder film of President Kennedy’s assassination, has been charged with stealing sound recordings from the agency over the past decade. Officials recovered 955 sound recording items from his Rockville home last year.
>> There was a shooting on the 1700 Block of Columbia Rd NW early Saturday morning. According to an email on Prince of Petworth from Councilmember Jim Graham, one of the Adams Morgan Business Improvement District’s reimbursable detail officers was on the scene and arrested the shooter. Graham flags that the police reimbursable detail is a joint program with the Metropolitan Police Department and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board that he authored in an action the D.C. Council approved years ago.
>> Three people suffered non-life threatening injuries Friday in a triple stabbing near the intersection of 4th and H Streets NW. D.C. police have made arrests in connection with the stabbing.
>> On Friday, police arrested Blanca Emilee Ortiz, 46, of Argentina, in connection with the 2007 murder of Gabriela Jose Lopez-Hernandez, 29. Hernandez was found suffering from stab wounds in the 1900 block of Columbia Road NW and was pronounced dead at the scene.
>> Carlows Michael Eady, 25, of Northeast Washington, was found shot Saturday morning in the 5300 block of Dix Street NE. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
>> A body was found by Metro track workers between two tracks near the Rockville station Saturday morning. An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said a name won’t be released until the family is notified, but he did say that the deceased was a 37-year-old man from Gaithersburg. There was no evidence of foul play.
>> A 37-year-old woman was assaulted at around 6:35 a.m Thursday morning while jogging alone in South Arlington in the 2000 block of Army Navy Drive. She was knocked to the ground and kicked before being touched in a sexual manner against her will. The woman was able to get away, and police are advising joggers to buddy up while jogging in South Arlington. Police describe the suspect as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5’10” to 6’ tall, with a medium build.
>> Prince of Petworth reports on and aggregates reactions to shots that were fired near 10th and I St NE around 9:00 am Saturday morning. MPD said no one was injured.
