They’ve been dance club favorites for the last decade due to their mixture of electropop and new wave, and now Ladytron will turn the 9:30 Club into their personal dance club. Sonoio and Cut Copy’s brothers in ’80s new wave love VHS or Beta are opening. $30, 7 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

The ’90s are back, apparently. Or at least Yuck seems to think they is. They’ve repurposed some classic college radio sounds from bands like Pavement and Yo La Tengo and made some catchy tunes. They’ll be at the Black Cat tonight with Porcelain Raft. $15, 8 p.m.

City Slang Booking has brought back their three day long festival called Hail Hail Rock n Roll (it’s been called other things in years past) that highlights the best in gritty garage sounds. This year they’re collaborating with Windian Records and Sasha Lord Presents, one a purveyor and one a supporter of gritty garage sounds. Thursday’s fare? Two D.C. acts (Beach Bloods, JJ Damage and the Bandits) join a band from Greece (Acid Baby Jesus) and a band from South Africa (Black Mamba Beat) at Asefu’s (1920 9th Street NW), $5, 8:00 p.m.

FRIDAY

With albums like The Real Ramona and their self-titled release, Throwing Muses became guitar heroes that influenced today’s shredders like Marissa Paternoster and Marnie Stern. Songwriter Kristin Hersh also touched on uneasy subjects (like mental illness) with stark alacrity. They will be at the Black Cat with The Cheniers. $20, 9 p.m.

SATURDAY

Loretta Lynn was already one of country’s greatest names and needed no more great works to add to her legacy. Yet, when 2004 came around, she collaborated with the greatest music renaissance man of the aughts, Jack White, and came out with the beautiful and heartbreaking Van Lear Rose. She’ll be at the 9:30 Club with Southern Culture on the Skids. $55, 7 p.m.

She surprised the television-watching public when she beat out the ubiquitous Justin Bieber for the “Best New Artist” Grammy. However, Esperanza Spalding (who has come through the D.C. area semi-regularly) is an honest to goodness jazz bass and vocal talent. She’ll show why she’s becoming a household name at the Warner Theatre. $49.50, 8 p.m.
