Photo by philliefan99.MOVIES: Reel Affirmations 2011, DC’s International LGBT Film Festival that runs October 13-22, is throwing an Opening Night Event tonight with a screening of Dirty Girl at the Lisner Auditorium (730 21st Street NW). 7 p.m. $20 for the film, $40 for the film and party.
STORYTELLING: Story League hosts a night of “Other People’s Stories,” third-person tales recounted by people that heard them, at Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW). 9-10:30 p.m. $10.
FOOD & DRINK: Restaurant 3 (2950 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington) kicks off their Week ‘O’ Bacon at 5 p.m. with a pig roast featuring $5 pork sandwiches. Through Saturday, October 22nd, there will numerous special bacon options, including bacon cocktails, a bacon curing class on October 16th, and a three-course bacon tasting menu.
BIRTHDAY PARTY: 826DC, the nonprofit co-founded by Dave Eggers that helps local students develop writing skills, celebrates its first birthday tonight with a party at Bourbon (2321 18th Street NW). Come out to eat cake and support literacy. 8:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Tickets are $5.
MUSIC: Today is the first of the three-day Hail Hail Rock n Roll Festival, put on by local label Windian Records. Check out Acid Baby Jesus, Black Mamba Beat, JJ Damage and The Bandits, and Beach Bloods at Asefu’s (1920 9th Street NW) tonight. 8:00 p.m. $5.
