DANCE: The VelocityDC Dance Festival begins a four-day run of performances at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) this evening. Tonight’s program will include sets by the Washington Ballet Studio Company, Flamenco Aparicio, Urban Artistry, Next Reflex Dance Collective, and five other groups. After tonight’s 8 p.m. performance, your other chances to catch a show include 8 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets: $18.

MUSIC: Rock your faces off while you dodge the spray of fake blood during GWAR’s show at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW). Every Time I Die and Ghoul also take the stage. 7 p.m. $25.

COMEDY: Comedian Dave Attell, who used to host Comedy Center’s show Insomniac, brings the laughs to DC Improv (1140 Connecticut Avenue NW) tonight through Sunday. 8 p.m. Tickets: $35.

MOVIE: The Comedy Film Bucket List Meetup Group is devoted to watching all the comedy films you should see before you die. Tonight, they cross zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead off their list during a screening at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington). 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $3.75.

SCIENCE: The D.C. Art Science Evening Rendezvous (DASER) is a group that meets once a month to talk about “art and science projects in the national capital region.” Tonight, the group hosts Medical Editor and Curator Koan Jeff Baysa, NIH Office of History Deputy Director David Cantor, University of Virginia History of Art Ph.D. candidate Mike Maizels and Professor of Chemistry Richard G.
