HALLOWEEN: Throw on your Butterstick costume and trick or treat with the animals at the National Zoo’s (3001 Connecticut Avenue NW) Boo at the Zoo event tonight and Sunday (Saturday night is sold out). CRAFTS: How can you resist an event with the name “Summit of Awesome“? This three-day crafting extravaganza kicked off yesterday, but there’s still plenty left on the schedule for today and tomorrow. Tonight, learn more about monetizing your handmade wares at the Etsy Meetup from 7-9 p.m. at Vaccaro’s Italian Pasteries (222 Albemarle Street, Baltimore), free to attend but RSVP required. Saturday attend talks from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (a one day conference pass is $50), or just hit the Make Something Awesome Party at Metro Gallery (1700 N. Charles Street, Baltimore) — it’s $5 for the general public and free for conference goers.
FOOD & DRINK: Get a taste of authentic Armenian cuisine, like lahmajoon, kufta and cheese boureg, at the 63rd Annual St. Mary Armenian Fall Food Festival at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church (4125 Fessenden Street NW). Stop by tonight from 5-9 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
MUSIC: Zola Jesus may describe her sound as “gloom-pop,” but there’s nothing gloomy about the adjectives we used for her in the lastest Weekly Music Agenda: dynamic, captivating, powerful and intense. >> Spend your whole evening at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) tonight with an early show at 5 p.m. ($15), featuring The Wombats, The Postelles, and The Static Jacks; that’s followed a late show at 10 p.m. ($25) with Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit and James McMurtry.
DANCE: Artisphere (1101 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) presents Dance: Films, a screening of six short dance films followed by a live performance by the Withers for Dance Construction Company. 8 p.m. $12.
FASHION: Project Runway alum Christian Siriano’s designs strut down the runway tonight at the Pink Rocks the Runway fashion and breast cancer awareness event in the International Trade Center Atrium (1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). Receptions 7 p.m., runway show 8 p.m. Tickets range from $75 to $500.
PARTY: NOW at Night at the Corcoran (500 17th Street NW) is an evening of food and drinks, music from DJ Spooky, and late night access to Corcoran exhibits Chris Martin: Painting Big and 30 Americans. 8 p.m. Ticket prices are steep, starting at $150, but the event is meant to be a fundraiser to continue programming at the Corcoran.
SATURDAY
CRAFTS: Wander through booths of wearable art, jewelry and other works at the Smithsonian’s Craft 2 Wear show at the National Building Museum (401 F Street NW) this Saturday and Sunday. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. $5. Sunday will also feature a panel discussion and coffee at 11 a.m. on “Curating Your Closet” for an additional $30.
DOGS: The DC Woof Walk Fun Run and Community Dog Walk event will feature a 2K walk, veterinarians answering questions, obstacle courses for dogs and kids, arts and crafts and more. Head over to join in at Capitol Reflecting Pool (3rd Street SW & Jefferson Drive SW), 10 a.m. Free to attend, but register to receive a free t-shirt and doggie bag.
ZOMBIES: The undead are taking over Maryland this Saturday. While zoombies may be sad to hear that registration is closed for the Run For Your Lives 5K obstacle course race, there’s plenty of space left to lurch in the Silver Spring Zombie Walk. These ambulatory undead will make their way (gathering at 8 p.m., starting to walk at 8:45 p.m.) from Georgia and Sligo Avenues in downtown Silver Spring to AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring) where they will feast on a zombie movie double feature: Dead Snow at 9:45 p.m., followed by Shaun of the Dead at 11:30 p.m. Free to walk, $11 each movie.
OKTOBERFEST: Have you been enjoying the Oktoberfest events each weekend (first Shirlington, then Rustico)? Well, no need to stop your streak yet. Head to Redwood’s Oktoberfest at Bethesda Row this Saturday for beers from 15 breweries, German food and live music. 1-8 p.m. (beer stops flowing at 7). $32 for ten beer tickets, small bites, a mug and a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
ART: Support student artists while you score reasonably priced pieces, including fine art, ceramics, photography, jewelry and more, at the Corcoran Student Art Sale (500 Seventeenth Street NW). 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
MOVIE: The U Street Movie Series, which hosted a bunch of outdoor movies this summer, meets up inside at the Shaw at Garnet-Patterson Jr. High School (2001 10th Street NW) Saturday from 12:15-2:00 p.m. for a screening of Waiting for “Superman”. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion on education policy from 2:15-3:30 p.m., and a networking reception Duffy’s Irish Pub and Restaurant (2106 Vermont Avenue NW) afterward. Free, but registration required.
RENAISSANCE: It’s your last chance, this Saturday and Sunday, to take part in the jousting, turkey leg eating, and other revelry at this year’s Maryland Renaissance Festival (1821 Crownsville Road, Annapolis). 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tickets range from $9-$19, depending on your age and if you’re in a group of 20 or more.
FESTIVAL: This weekend, head to George Washington’s home sweet home, Mount Vernon, for Fall Harvest Family Days. There will be wagon rides, a straw bale maze, apple-roasting, corn husk doll making and more. Adults $15, 6-11 years $7, under 6 free.
VOLUNTEER: Be a part of Make A Difference Day, sponsored by Greater DC Cares, by volunteering to help paint inspirational words and murals on walls, canvases to be hung, and games on the blacktop (like hopscotch) at JC Nalle Elementary School (219 50th Street SE). Register, then sign up here. 9 a.m.-noon.

RECORDS: The DC Record Fair will be held at Artisphere (1101 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) this Sunday. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. $5 from 11 a.m. to noon, and $2 from noon til 5 p.m.
BEER: American Ice Company (917 V Street NW) hosts the 2nd annual homebrew competition from the Neighborhood Farm Initiative. Come out and judge, or sign up to share your brews. 2 p.m. Free for participating brewers, $10 suggested donation for tasters.
CHEESE: Ripple (3417 Connecticut Avenue NW) presents Cheese 101, a class that will teach you how to make fresh cheese and the art of putting together a cheese and charcuterie plate. Call (202) 244-7995 for reservations. 3:30-5 p.m. $40.
FITNESS: Experience the Intercounty Connector without a car this Sunday at the ICC Run/Walk/Bike. The 5K walk/run and the 10M bike ride are each $25 if you preregister, or $30 day-of. The money goes to support Special Olympics Maryland athletes. Register by 8 a.m., event begins at 9 a.m.
