This afternoon, a man arrested in connection with a plot that planned bombings against two Washington embassies and targeted the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States pleaded not guilty to various charges.
The Associated Press reports that Manssor Arbabsiar made the plea inside a U.S. District Court in New York City this morning. Even though the plot involving several sites in the District of Columbia — including the Saudi Arabian and Israeli embassies — the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York was handling the operation along with federal investigators.
Arbabsiar, a 56-year-old U.S. citizen, is alleged to have conspired with Gholam Shakuri, who remains at-large and is believed to be in Iran.
