If you live in a part of the District where street-sweepers force you to engage in a weekly ballet of car-moving before you head off to work, you’ll be able to rest easy as of next week — the city’s street-sweeping program goes into hibernation on October 31.

According to the D.C. Department of Public Works, street-sweeping will continue along major roadways like Pennsylvania Avenue, Georgia Avenue and Independence Avenue, but be suspended on other roads until March 1. What does that mean for you? Those alternate-side daytime parking restrictions will be lifted for the next five months.

DPW also announced that leaf collection will start on November 7 and run through January 14. Any loose leaves raked into tree boxes or bagged will be collected and composted. If you’ve got any questions about leaf collection, DPW is hosting a live online chat tomorrow from 1-2 p.m.
