BEER: Head to Scion (2100 P Street NW) tonight for Southern Tier Trick-or-Treat, a night of six different Southern Tier pints, including the very popular Pumking. 5 p.m. to close. Pints are $5, unless you come in costume, then they’re $4.

DOGS: Jackson 20 (480 King Street, Alexandria) and Hotel Monaco are throwing a Doggie Howl-o-ween Costume Party tonight tomorrow. to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and prove that dog costume contests are not so much better in New York. Registration from 4:30-5:30 p.m., contest at 6 p.m. $10 donation. (Please note: this event is taking place tomorrow).

DANCE: For two nights this week, China’s Bejing Dance Theater will perform a mix of ballet, modern, and traditional dance at the Kennedy Center (2700 F Street NW). 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow. $22-$60.

TALK: Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma and In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, speaks at the Strathmore (5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda) tonight about the industrialization of food and food reform. 8 p.m. $35-$60.

COCKTAILS: Art on the Rocks at the Torpedo Factory (105 North Union Street, Alexandria) will feature art-inspired cocktails created by mixologists from Austin Grill, Chadwicks, Columbia Firehouse, Hank’s Oyster Bar, The Light Horse Restaurant and Red Rocks. Attendees vote to name the winner. 6-9 p.m. $35 in advance, $45 at the door.
