Sometimes we like to give the folks over at WAMU a little friendly stick, but let’s be honest: it’s a very rare day when we aren’t given a shot in the arm with a healthy dose of some Kojo Nnamdi and the other fine programming that comes out of Tenleytown. This weekend, the station celebrated its 50th anniversary and transition from a “seven-hour-a-day obscurity” to its standing as a respected outlet today. We recommend taking a quick spin through the station’s collection of historic photos — check out Diane Rehm’s beehive! — after checking out the Kojo-narrated history above. Congrats, WAMU — here’s to another 50.
