While the D.C. GOP has fielded candidates for a number of local 2012 races, the Statehood Green Party has remained quiet so far.
As of today, the only member of the party to jump into any race is Natale “Lino” Stracuzzi, who will be seeking the House seat currently held by D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton. Nancy Farolina, a relatively unknown Republican contender, announced her own intention to challenge Norton yesterday.
Stracuzzi ran in 2010, but lost in the primary to fellow Statehood Green Party member Rick Tingling-Clemmons.
Renee Bowser, who is challenging Councilmember Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4), changed her party affiliation from Statehood Green to Democratic for the 2012 race. In 2007, she ran against Bowser in a special election as a member of the Statehood Green Party.
Other names that have been floated as possible candidates include Ann Wilcox for an At-Large seat on the D.C Council — she ran for council chair in 2010 — and Darryl L.C. Moch, who lost the 2010 primary for an At-Large seat.
The Statehood Green Party has 4,100 members, or just under one percent of the District’s electorate.
