A quick update to a story we noted back in August — the District’s Historic Preservation Review Board has officially granted landmark status to the Wonder Bread Factory (officially known as Dorsch’s White Cross Bakery) at 641 S Street NW in Shaw.

The landmark status prevents the building — which is technically a complex of structures which were constructed between 1913 and 1936 — from being razed or significantly altered; a noteworthy development, considering the building is slated to be redeveloped into condos by Douglas Development Corp.
