Having made her name collaborating with Glen Hansard in The Swell Season (and co-starring with him in the 2006 film, Once), Markéta Irglová has struck out on her own with a voice-and-piano-driven solo debut, Anar. The Czech singer-songwriter plays the 9:30 Club on Monday night, with Justin Jones offering a supporting set. $25. 7 p.m.

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins showcases her robust vocals and spirited mix of vintage-rock sounds at DC9, with local indie-rockers The Mean Season opening. $8 in advance / $10 doors. 9 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

Initially hesitant to tour behind the darkly-atmospheric, “swamp-influenced” material on his 2010 solo LP, Down There, Animal Collective’s Dave Portner — a.k.a. Avey Tare — is set to unveil the long-gestating live arrangements of songs like “Cemeteries” and “Lucky 1” during a brief U.S. jaunt that comes through U Street Music Hall on Wednesday night. Arrive early to catch opening sets by Portner’s Terrestrial Tones bandmate (and Black Dice member) Eric Copeland and Silver Spring experimentalist Insect Factory. $10. 8 p.m.

Erstwhile District residents Jukebox the Ghost share catchy, energetic indie-pop songs at the 9:30 Club, with D.C./Brooklyn quartet Deleted Scenes kicking off the festivities with their psych-tinged indie rock. Delaware’s The Spinto Band complete’s the evening’s line-up. $15. 7 p.m.

SATURDAY

Former Le Loup guitarist May Tabol’s Feist-like voice punctuates the distinctive indie-folk sound of her current band, Pree, who recently issued Folly, a strong full-length follow-up to their 2009 EP, A Chopping Block. The District-based quartet plays the Red Palace on Saturday, with Paperhaus and Br’er opening. $8. 9 p.m.

SUNDAY

Just three months after their previous local performance, Philadelphia indie-rockers The War on Drugs bring their expansive, Americana-textured sound back to the H Street Corridor, headlining the Rock and Roll Hotel with British dream-pop standouts Still Corners and Brooklyn singer-songwriter Cat Martino rounding out the bill. $14. 8 p.m.
