Sure, I’m prone to giving the Washington Post crap from time to time. (I just love it too much not to nitpick.) But it’s obvious that the newspaper, despite its financial struggles, is still one of the most trusted names in news in this country. That said, we’re encouraged to see that the Post has decided to extend its local coverage more digital inches on its national homepage.

In theory, this could be the chance for folks who don’t live in the D.C. metropolitan area to realize that actual, regular people — you know, not just Congressmembers and Marion Barry — do indeed live inside the nation’s capital.

Then again, with stories like this and this among the top local news stories this morning, perhaps we’d be better off not having the daily Metro news highlighted for the rest of the nation to see.
