>> U.S. Park Police began arresting Occupy D.C. protesters about an hour ago at McPherson Square after they refused to take down a wood structure they built overnight. U.S. Park Police say the structure violates park rules and needed to be taken down by 11:45 a.m. Police began moving in after the deadline passed, removing protesters one-by-one and handcuffing them before taking them into custody.

>> The Washington Examiner reports that a man Occupy D.C. protesters said is part of their movement was arrested by the Secret Service Saturday outside McPherson Square. Secret Service spokesman Max Milien told the Examiner that the arrest was part of the “normal course of business” — there was an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.

>> A man entered the All Saints Preschool in Chevy Chase Friday and stole cash and a Metro farecard from two purses while staff was taking care of children outside.

>> Matthew B. Parker, 66, of Unionville, Va., is accused of stabbing his 61-year-old estranged wife Friday. She was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Parker was taken into custody and is being held without bond in Loudoun County.

>> A local man is accused of taking advantage of people with physical and mental disabilities. Edward Jones is disabled and makes ends meet with his Social Security checks. When Jones met Deshaun Terry Johnson, he promised Jones a job as a janitor. Jones gave Johnson $700 for equipment and a uniform, but he never got the job. Jones said he had believed Johnson was his friend. Police are looking for more of Johnson’s victims.

>> Jubair Ahmad, 24, of Woodbridge, Va. pleaded guilty on charges he helped produce an Internet video for a Pakistani terrorist group. Ahmad pleaded guilty to a single count of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years behind bars.

>> On Saturday night, a man was shot and killed in the 1100 block of 21st St. NE. The police don’t have anyone in custody and are asking anyone with any information to call 202-727-9099.

>> A second person has died after being hit by a car outside a Hyattsville Home Depot on Thanksgiving. Jose Cristino Sanchez-Rosa of Falls Church, who died Friday, was one of five day laborers who were standing on an island in the parking lot of the Home Depot when they were struck by a 79-year-old driver’s Lincoln Town Car. Preliminary reports said the incident was an accident, but a witness later came forward and said it had appeared to be deliberate.

>> A man walking into an alley on the 2800 block of 14th Street NW was hit with a metal pole after he refused an alcoholic drink from another man Friday afternoon.

>> The Metropolitan Police Department and the Georgetown University Department of Public Safety are looking into two burglaries Friday evening near 36th and O Streets. In the first incident, a Georgetown University student was in her living room off campus when a strange man emerged from her closet. She confronted him, and he ran out the back door. In another incident in the same area, a student returned home to find a stranger in an upstairs bedroom. He fled after she started screaming. Both intruders were described as six feet tall with medium builds and wearing dark hooded jackets. The intruder in the first incident was described as black. Those details were not provided in the second incident.
