When Mike Licht of NotionsCapital.com sent us the above photo, we thought maybe the anti-bike driver who was caught on video running down a cyclist in September was launching a campaign for a D.C. Council seat. We like bikes and bike lanes around here, and all of a sudden someone’s actively going to jam our spokes? Didn’t Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) just give her fellow council members goodie bags of bike stuff? Is someone really running—or motoring—around on a platform to retake the asphalt for cars and drivers?
Not quite.
But it’s still kind of silly. NoBikesInDC.com isn’t a campaign site. Phew. Instead, it’s the home page for a spinning class with no bikes. Rather than stick its students’ butts on stationary cycles, the no-bike spin class appears to feature lots of running in place, arm-wiggling and getting herky-jerky on the floor. Check out the trailer:
It was enough to attract the attention of NewsChannel 8, which became an early endorser of this silly-looking exercise regime:
Only $9.99 per “ride,” the fitness company’s website advertises. Then again, you could always stay home, jump up and down and freak out your family when they see you rolling on the floor for free.
