After all the half-priced restaurants, discounted dental services and prepackaged yoga lessons it slung in 2011, want to know what LivingSocial’s most popular deal for the D.C. market was last year?
Car washes.
The Washington-based deal-of-the-day company announced this morning a few of its most popular sales, including local deals. (The $10-for-$20 voucher at Whole Foods last September was a national offer, quickly selling out its entire supply of 1 million coupons.) The most popular sale in D.C.—and the second most popular local deal in any U.S. market—was an April 13 offer for Mr. Wash Car Wash. LivingSocial sold 16,206 of the $21 vouchers good for three express washes at the local car-cleaning chain.
Only low-priced tickets to the New England Aquarium in Boston sold better, with 20,000 sold. It’s not clear if everyone who bought one of the Mr Wash vouchers redeemed them by their August 15 expiration.
