If you’re a Comcast subscriber and were watching the end of the nail-biter of a game between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, you were treated to way too many Xfinity commercials at the most inopportune moments — i.e., during a game-deciding moment.

This afternoon Fox 5 D.C. released a statement fessing up that all those commercials were its fault:

Sunday night, FOX 5 experienced technical problems that affected the airing of Comcast Xfinity commercials during the NFC Championship Game.

We apologize for the impact these technical issues had on the viewing experience of Comcast subscribers and have taken additional steps to ensure that these problems do not happen again.

There’s no word yet on whether Fox 5 will include a full live rematch of those closing moments amongst its “additional steps.” But yeah, that would be great.
