Photo by Shaun Barrows. As part of a broader attempt to modernize the District’s taxicab fleet, a few weeks ago Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) set up an online survey to test the public’s sentiment on everything from how they feel about cabs to what color they should be.
Tomorrow the results will be made public, but Cheh’s office teased out two facts — over 4,000 people participated in the survey, and 38 percent of those would want all the city’s cabs to be yellow. (Red came in second, with 18 percent.)
I’ll keep by opinion to myself (OK, I won’t — yellow is awful), but here’s a solid sampling of taxicab colors from around the world. I do suppose I’m in the minority of folks who would want “Tax(i)ation without Representation” written in huge letters on every cab, too.
We’ll have the full results as they’re released tomorrow.
