For those still bummed about the Redskins going 6-105-11, or maybe about the fact that the New York Giants, who lost to Rex Grossman-led disappointments twice during the regular season, are playing in the Super Bowl, take comfort: IHOP wants to console you with a free ice cream sundae.

In our tip line, we found a note from IHOP saying that anyone who buys an entree at either of their D.C. locations will receive a complimentary dessert. All one has to do is eat some pancakes and prove Facebook friendship with the restaurant, and free ice cream shall appear. Oof, that’s a lot of carbs.

Now, IHOP’s promotion doesn’t appear to be tied to the perennial moping that lingers over the D.C. area during the NFL post-season, but, you know, maybe it’ll help people get over it. That is, if IHOP’s ice cream dishes are any good. Can’t say I’ll take up this offer, as I’ll be living it up on Sunday with other Giants fans. But for those about to endure the Super Bowl in protest, perhaps this could be solacing.
