Even for non-sports fans, the Super Bowl is a great time because you can indulgence in fatty snacks and drinks without much thought. Beer, wings, nachos, chili, hot dogs, and dips. If you’re headed out to party, Eater has a map of special deals and menus.
But if you’re staying in or going to friends to watch the game, I love the array of available dip options. From guacamole to salsa to queso to French onion, my mouth waters just thinking about it. There’s also no other time when the use of Velveeta is more acceptable, especially when used in tandem with a can of Rotel. And if you want to get down and dirty, de-case some Italian sausage, cook it up, and mix it with the Velveeta and Rotel.
My favorite easy go-to is spinach dip. Mix together a defrosted box of chopped spinach, one cup of mayonnaise, one cup of sour cream or Greek yogurt, and one packet of vegetable soup mix.
So as you prepare for the big game what are some of your favorite dip recipes?

Prince of Petworth has a photo preview of Three Little Pigs charcuterie shop. You can check out their open house this Saturday at 5111 Georgia Ave. to check out the space and learn more about what they’ll be serving.
Chefs on Ice
As much as we want to make fun of Disney on Ice, there is something fascinating about this latest promotion. With Disney on Ice shows at Verizon Center from February 15-20, local restaurants Graffiato, Fiola, Central, Rosa Mexicano, and Ping Pong Dim Sum will be serving Disney-inspired entrees from December 6-15. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these dishes will go to DC Central Kitchen.
