Police on the Caribbean island of Nevis have detained a man in connection to the robbery of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer last week, reports CNN. Vedel Browne, the 28-year-old suspect, turned himself in after police had identified him as the machete-wielding man that stole $1,000 from Breyer and his family while they vacationed. Browne was charged yesterday.

The incident has caused renewed discussion over the fact that Supreme Court justices are lightly guarded in their official capacity and largely left to their own devices if they go on vacation. Over the weekend the New York Times tied the incident to the ongoing push for cameras in the Supreme Court; according to opponents of the idea, that the justices require little security is because they’re not widely recognized. Still, Breyer joins number of other justices, including David Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who have been victims of crime.

Should Browne be convicted of the robbery, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
