MOVIES: As part of its Things to Come: The City Imagined on Film, which runs through April 5, AFI Silver Theatre’s (8633 Colesville Road Silver Spring, MD) presents Metropolis on tonight, with live musical accompaniment from Alloy Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. $20.

ACROBATICS: If you prefer your violinists flying through the air with the greatest of ease check out Cirque de la Symphonie at the Kennedy Center (2700 F Street NW) tonight at 8:00 p.m. (tomorrow’s show is sold out). Along with aerialists there will also be acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, and strongmen. $20-$85

SIDESHOW: The Ooh La La Belly Dance & Sideshow Revue entertains and astounds at Montserrat House (2016 9th Street NW) tonight. Doors 8:00 p.m., show 9:00 p.m. $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

MUSIC: Bad Domes brings an evening of mashups to the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) tonight. 9:30 p.m. $5.

ART: Help Art Enables (2204 Rhode Island Avenue NE), an organization that helps individuals with developmental disabilities make art, celebrate its 10th birthday Saturday with cake, bubbles, and art. 2:00-4:00 p.m.

DANCE: Dancers perform in Israeli’s Gaga dance style (no, not Lady Gaga) at the Next: Israel event at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) this Saturday. 8:00 p.m. $18-$23.

FOOD & DRINK: The Chesapeake Oyster and Beer Festival comes to National Harbor this weekend with all-you-care-to-eat oysters prepared in a variety of styles. The event takes place Friday (6:00-10:00 p.m.), Saturday (12:00-9:00 p.m.). Tickets: $89.

ACTING: Learn the art of improv at a workshop with Second City’s Dunbar Dicks at Theater on the Run (3700 S. Four Mile Run Drive, Arlington, VA) Saturday. An “Introduction to Improvisation” class will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and an “Improvisation for Actors” class will go from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Learn more and register here. $15 for one session, $25 for two.

MOVIE: Haven’t seen all the Oscar Best Picture nominees yet? ACADEMY AWARDS: Make the Oscars a big event this year by attending an Oscar Watching Party at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, Black Cat, The Heights, or The Hamilton.
