According to TBD, the National Capital Planning Commission gave the go-ahead for the installation of five Capital Bikeshare stations on the National Mall this afternoon. The move is a big step forward after the National Park Service famously claimed last year that the city’s bike-sharing system would “destroy the nature” of the mall.

Along with a new shuttle starting this month, there are soon to be more transportation alternatives for the National Mall, and just in time for the cherry blossoms tourist rush.
