If you’ve got kids or a pretty long bucket list, attending the White House’s Annual Easter Egg Roll should probably be something you eventually do. If 2012 is your year, be ready—the lottery for one of the 35,000 spots to the event opens at 10 a.m. today.

This year’s Easter egg roll will take place on Monday, April 9, and the theme will be “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move” in recognition of First Lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaigns.

The festivities date back to the late 1870s, when Easter-related events took place on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. But seeing how kids were wrecking the lawns, Congress moved to forbid children from playing on grassy areas around the Capitol, forcing President Rutherford B. Hayes to step in and offer up the grounds of the White House as an alternate location.
